If you have a sweet tooth or just can’t live without certain things, here is a short list of alternatives you could try with the hope of a healthier option 👌🏻

– Chocolate bars!! Many people’s apparently necessary evil however there are so many better ways to still get that great taste both healthier and cheaper. Make your own: with thousands of recipes you can make exactly what you want when you want and after the initial outlay of some of the ingredients the costs can become incredibly cheap. Don’t overdo the sweeter ingredients or you defeat the object of the game! Chocolate protein bars offer an increased protein content and you can find them in hundreds if not thousands of different varieties. Be wary as some may not actually be any healthier than your normal chocolate with all the extra gumph they put in them so if your in doubt then please dont hesitate to get in touch. Also see other posts on protein bars.

– Changing normal bread to pitta bread for sandwiches, as a general rule, reduces the amount carbohydrates  consumed (especially sugars) so is especially good for reduced carbohydrate eating plans.

– Another great way to reduce carbohydrates is to replace rice for cauliflower rice, similar texture and still soaks up those HEALTHY sauces well however cauliflower is far less calorie dense, far more nutrient rich and all round better for you.

– Still struggling to get your 5 a day into your diet? Still consuming to many carbohydrates? Try mashing carrots and sweed together and using that as a healthier topping to a cottage/shepherd’s pie! Looks and tastes great and once again has a far superior nutrient profile to that of a buttery, milky mashed potato 👌🏻
